Madrid – Real Madrid midfielder, James Rodriguez, likely to be absent when the El Real compete in the 2014 Club World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury.
James was forced to be replaced in the 53rd minute when Los Blancos dealing with Celta Vigo last weekend. After the medical examination, the Colombian player was diagnosed with muscle damage in the right knee.
Not yet known how long the 2014 World Cup top scorer will miss. However, that certainly he was not included in the squad for Madrid counter Ludogorets in the European Champions League on Wednesday early morning.
“Based on tests conducted to James Rodriguez by a medical team of Real Madrid Sanitas, he was diagnosed with a knee injury in the first level of the gastrocnemius media right knee. Progress will continue to be monitored,” the club said in a statement.
Injuries to James apparently triggered rumors that Real Madrid will re-open talks with Cruzeiro to sign midfielder Lucas Silva in January next.
Madrid which had been linked with the 21-year players. However, the talks stalled due to not reaching the meeting point about the value of the transfer. [RZA]
